You Make Me Laugh: A Love Song to Gilda Radner

If you loved Gilda Radner this is the show for you. Francesca Amari creates a loving tribute to the Saturday Night Live comedienne who created such characters as Rosannadannadanna and Baba Wawa.
Although Amari resembles Gilda and briefly imitates several of the characters, she does not try to become Radner, but simply tells Gilda's story.
Amari creates the story through the lyrics of the songs she sings with the sincerity of the feeling that come through her singing again and again. This is particularly apparent with "Bring On The Rain", a ballad of defiance, sung with tremendous power at the point in Radner's life where she obegins her battle with ovarian cancer.
Despite knowing how Gilda Radner's life ended, the show is never maudlin. Amari keeps the tone light,bubbly, humorous, and uplifting just as Radner did even during her darkest days.
This is a show you will forget. The audience is will brought to tears at Gilda's bravery at the same time they are laughing in memory of and her humor and the quirky, funny characters she created.
A portion of the proceeds from this show will be donated to Gilda's Club and a local cancer fund raiser group.
