Seattle Theatre: What's Next? - Non-Union Theatre Guild
Back in October, the theater community was inspired to gather and share their thoughts and ideas at "SH!TSTORM: See Something, Say Something(?)." Many opinions, insights, and potential solutions were shared in this community forum. These brainstorms were handed over to the What's Next? Committee (Jim Jewell, Ryan Higgins, Julia Nardin, and D'Arcy Harrison). The committee has worked diligently behind the scenes to speak to many different community members on the feasibility and viability of the proposed solutions.
The first meeting will be on the topic of creating a NON UNION THEATRE GUILD: A support system that can support and assist independent theatre artists new and old within Seattle.
What would this look like to you? What would an oath of conduct include to bind the guild together? What benefits would you want and need to take part in a guild? As a theatre organization or as an individual artist? How do we engage and entice local theaters to become a part of the guild? Would you pay a fee to be part of a theatre guild or should this be an extension of an already established organization? Should participating company's profile include: staff lists, board liaison, and company manager for artists and donors?
Come and be part of the conversation, and the action to follow. The event will moderated by Jim Jewell and the conversation hosted and led by Caitlin Frances.
Seattle Theatre: What's Next? is supported by The 14/48 Projects and their mission of supporting and strengthening the Seattle theatre community.
