HAMLET - BLUE Cast
Hamlet asks, "What dreams will come?" and history's most famous author invites us to quest for the answer. For what is perhaps Shakespeare's most fascinating and thought-provoking play, Lumina creates an exciting new setting to explore ideas of perception. Living in the kingdom of a dollhouse, Hamlet accepts his toybox reality as a given until his father's ghost tells the secret of his murder by Hamlet's uncle Claudius. With that crack in the surface of his existence, Hamlet races to punish his corrupt stepfather - but then pauses on the edge of action and changes the plot of what would have been a typical Elizabethan Revenge Play to something altogether uncanny and haunting. As all the masks slip away from the devoted friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, the kind mother Gertrude, the upright king Claudius, hidden faces are revealed. As Ophelia breathlessly proclaims: "To have seen what I have seen, see what I see!" With an inventive use of costumes, masks, props, set, and video, Lumina tilts an evocative new light on this timeless classic.
