Broaday Star Janene Lovullo in
It was just about one year ago when cabaret producer Les Michaels introduced Janene Lovullo at Billy Reed's in Palm Springs to a SRO crowd. Among them was The Desert Winds Freedom Band Director Dean McDowell, who was blown-over by her moving performance, which led to her appearance with the band at the Palm Springs Auditorium. This time around it is The Arthur Newman Theatre at The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert on Saturday, December 18. With it's intimate 180 seats, what better way to experience her tremendous talent and her new cabaret-concert entitled "You Are My World", which will feature songs by music's leading composers from both Broadway and The Great American Songbook with stories and introductions about the music and history from Ms. Lovullo's show business career. And what a career, with leading roles in both Broadway and National Tours of shows such as "Pirates Of Penzance", "Cats", and "Les Miserables".
Ms. Lovullo is now settled in Orange County where she has been vocal directing for the Southern Orange County School of the Arts and has vocally directed over 18 high school and summer programs throughout Orange County. Joining Janene will be her musical director, Christopher Marlowe on the baby grand. Tickets for the December 18 at 7 PM show are $10 at the door and the box office open at 6 PM with complimentary wine prior to the show. Advance tickets are available on line through Brown Paper Tickets as well as reservations may be made at 760-325-2731. This will mark the last Life Is A Cabaret show for this year and will be replaced by Sunday matinees in 2011. A schedule of shows may be found at www.lesmichaels.com/joslyn.
