Brothers Egg formed in 2014 in Wilmington and Raleigh, NC when brothers Jamie Eggleston (guitar, banjo, drums, piano, vocals) and Hunter Eggleston (mandolin, guitar, drums, vocals) teamed-up with Suzanna Crist (fiddle, vocals) to forge a vibrant, individual sound from their wide range of instruments and musical influences. Their music and influences reflect an eclectic and driving blend of Americana, Roots Rock, Indie Folk, Bluegrass, Grunge, and World Music with influences including Dave Matthews, Alison Krauss, The Avett Brothers, Habib Koiti, John Butler, and Led Zeppelin.

Brothers Egg hatched after Jamie spent time living and surfing in South Africa, where he honed his ear for African rhythms and melodies while traveling and making music throughout South Africa and Mozambique. In the meantime, Hunter thru-hiked, solo the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail where he gained a newfound appreciation for American roots music and Appalachian bluegrass. Jamie and Hunter returned from their far-flung adventures in South Africa and the Appalachian Mountains with new song ideas and a fresh approach to songwriting. Suzanna Crist, a classically-trained violinist with a beautiful voice, adds tasteful melodies on violin and bright harmonies to the Brothers Egg. Her musical influences include Radiohead and Bach, and her style on the violin adds another unique musical dimension to the Brothers Egg.

Brothers Egg is also a family affair. Their father played drums and recorded with some infamous R&B and rock bands out of Richmond, VA in the 1980's, and he plays drums on the Brothers Egg newly released EP, Bleeding Slow. Their mother, Jenny Eggleston, is a visual artist and poetshe created the art for and contributed lyrics to Bleeding Slow. The driving blend of music by Brothers Egg reflects the fact that Jamie and Hunter each started out as drummers before learning stringed instruments. Live performances by the Brothers Egg are described as fun, high energy, musically stimulating, and a hidden gem.
