Diamano Coura Presents 16th Collage des Cultures Africaines - "Festival of the Masks"
Collage is an international African music and dance collaboration presented by Diamano Coura West African Dance Company in its 16th Collage des Cultures Africaines - featuring 30 internationally renowned experts from Senegal, America, Mali, Haiti, Congo, Liberia, Ivory Coast Zimbabwe, and Guinea in one night of mesmerizing performances of masks from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Congo, Haiti, New Orleans Mardi Gras Indians, and Cuba; a pre-performance African marketplace and food bazaar, pre-show extravaganza, and a spectacular ensemble of performing artists on March 12th, 2011 at 8PM at the Laney College Theater. The featured companies include Diamano Coura West African Dance Company with Zak Diouf, Naomi Diouf, and Nimely Napla, Rara Tou Limon Haitian Dance Company with Portsha Jefferson, Emecee - Messengers of the African Diaspora, Dimensions Dance Theater with Debra Vaughn, Chinyakare Zimbabwe Dance Company with Julia Chigamba, Fua Dia Congo with Muizi and Kiazi Malonga, and special international guests who participate in four fun filled days of dance workshops at the Malonga Center for the Arts Center from March 10 - 13 in Oakland, California. Come, learn and witness African culture at its best from some of Africa's renowned masters of the art form.
