Health: Susan Jacoby: New Myths About Old Age
Health gurus claim baby-boomers can stay "forever young" if they live right. Biomedical businessmen predict 90 could be the new 50. And wishful thinkers still assert that older means wiser. Susan Jacoby says: bunk. Jacoby, author of Never Say Die, says it's a myth that a radically new old age—no physical or mental deterioration, financial woes, or loneliness—awaits the boomer generation, and asks whether living longer is a good thing unless it means living better. Presented by the Town Hall Future of Health Lecture Series with University Book Store. Series sponsored by Bastyr University and PCC Natural Markets. Series media sponsorship provided by KPLU.
