R. Carlos Nakai Quartet
Multiple GRAMMY Nominee, Gold and Platinum Record Winner and Canyon Records Recording Artist R. Carlos Nakai brings his new global native fusion ensemble to the Sea Of Glass--Center For The Arts for a world premiere concert. Among the many manifestations of Nakai's expansive musical exploration, from solo Native American Flute to ethnic jazz to classical chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras, RCNQ stands out as the Maestro's most danceable, eclectic and high-energy expression.
Joining original RCNQ members and multiple GRAMMY Nominees Will Clipman on drums and percussion and AmoChip Dabney on keyboards and saxophones is the newest "Qster" Johnny "Basshawk" Walker on electric five-string bass. RCNQ will perform new arrangements of favorite selections from its recorded oeuvre along with new, never-before-heard improvisations.
With Nakai's signature flute melodies and golden Miles Davis-like trumpet lines at the pinnacle of the sound pyramid, underscored by Dabney's lush keyboard textures and funky tenor, alto and soprano sax counterpoint, and driven by the rock-solid rhythm section of Walker and Clipman, RCNQ's "dance music for the soul" will have your spirit groovin' and your body movin' from the first downbeat.
