Judgement Day, Foxtails Brigade and Jason Simms at Porto Franco
Judgement Day - After 8 years as an ear-shattering heavy-metal string trio Judgement Day have decided to ditch their extensive pedal collection for a whole new sound. The band recently announced that their upcoming 3rd record will be totally acoustic with paint buckets for drums. What does acoustic metal sound like? Come to this show and find out!
Foxtails Brigade - LA-born singer-songwriter Laura Weinbach has made quite a name for herself in the Bay Area over the last year, turning heads at farmer's markets and BART stations with her delicate, intricate original songs. Now she is taking her neo-Victorian sound to a whole new level with a full band of Bay Area all-star musicians: Anton Patzner (Bright Eyes, Judgement Day) plays violin, Joe Lewis (Os Beaches, Honeycomb) plays upright bass and Josh Pollack (Citay, Bob Saggeth) plays bottles, bells and other curious percussive knickknacks. Prepare your finest silverware, as Foxtails Brigade will be serving a delectable feast for your ears!
Jason Simms believes folk music should be belted out and played standing up. The singer from Albuquerque by way of Portland who fronted punk and metal bands for the last decade (most recently the Metal Shakespeare Company--a power metal adaptation of the Bard), now writes heartfelt songs about war, Detroit, happiness and LeBron James. That last one drew the attention of national media such as ESPN and Yahoo! Sports last summer. Simms is touring in support of his debut EP, Motel ParaÃÂÃ,Âso.
