2015 Seattle Angel Dinner Series
Welcome to our second Angel dinner!
Year 2, #2 of 2015 is going to be on Tuesday, May 12th.
As usual, mingling and networking will start at 6 PM and dinner will be served at 7 PM.
The premise is simple: a healthy and engaged angel/investor network is one of the keys to a healthy start-up ecosystem, so we thought it would be great to bring together quality local angels (and a few other players in the tech sector) for a fun and engaging night of food, wine, and conversation....aka, good ol' networking and idea sharing.
We are limiting the number of attendees so we can keep it small enough for good conversations. And we are fortunate to have three generous sponsors underwriting most of the cost of the event:
Craig Sherman of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Craig Kinzer of Kinzer Real Estate Services and Kinzer Capital Geir Hansen of Silicon Valley Bank
They have kindly agreed to subsidize this event to keep the price to $50 (normally $135) for a multi-course, wine-paired meal.
THIS IS AN INVITE-ONLY EVENT AND INVITE IS ONLY FOR THE PERSON WHO RECEIVED IT. PAST EVENTS HAVE SOLD OUT EACH TIME, AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS IS A FOCUSED, WORTHWHILE EVENT FOR ALL.
BONUS EVENT: As usual, we are doing another really interesting pre-event to highlight cool "startups" in the South Lake Union neighborhood. For this dinner, we are meeting over at Northeastern University's Seattle Campus, just a 5 minute walk from The VUDE. This is exciting in part because, they are expanding to serve a larger student demand for computer science degrees (http://www.geekwire.com/2015/northeastern-university-expands-seattle-campus-after-huge-demand-for-computer-science-degrees/ and as well as the appointment of their new Director of CS in Seattle, Dr. Ian Gorton, who they recruited from Carnegie Mellon). Our host will be the Dean, Tayloe Washburn and the Associate Dean, Dr. Paula Boyum. This starts right at 5 pm. This is limited to 15 people and you must R.S.V.P. Here is the info from the Dean: Our pre-dinner tour will be of the recently opened campuses of Northeastern University-Seattle, in the heart of South Lake Union. Northeastern is a top-ranked non-profit research university, based in Boston, which currently has graduate campuses in Seattle, Charlotte and now Silicon Valley. The original graduate campus opened 36 months ago. Just last week it has expanded due to the growth in demand, especially for the Masters in Computer Science, to a second campus location located a block away. Our host will be the Founding Dean and CEO, Tayloe Washburn. Tayloe is a former land use lawyer on many of our region's biggest public projects. He managed his law firm, Foster Pepper PLLC, for six years and has chaired and led many civic organizations, including the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the Seattle/King County Economic Development Council, and the Washington Aerospace Partnership. In addition to his academic duties, Tayloe serves on the WTIA Board and chairs its Workforce Development and Diversity Action Committees. Tayloe will talk briefly with us about the rapid transformation in higher education, exemplified by Northeastern's Seattle campus, and talk about their innovative approach to meeting the demand in this region for graduates with computer science skills and the internship/co-op program that may be of real interest to startup companies.
Cheers,
Jon, Craig, Craig, Geir
