Nick Dumas and Chris Luquette with Special Guest Connor Hutteball
Nick Dumas and Chris Luquette team up for a fabulous show at the Thumb! Special Guest Connor Hutteball.
Nick and Chris played in the popular Northwest bluegrass band Northern Departure for many years. Since then, they have both moved on to different groups. Chris now resides in Alexandria, Virginia and is currently playing with Grammy-nominated bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen. Nick still resides in the Seattle, WA area and plays with the popular band North Country. It will be a treat to see Nick and Chris back on the stage together again playing originals and traditional tunes with their own twist! Joining them will be special guest Connor Hutteball on upright bass.
NICK DUMAS - Nick is one of the most popular musicians among the Northwest bluegrass scene and probably one of the best mandolin and fiddle players you will find on the West Coast. Growing up in Brier, Washington, Nick was heavily influenced by his grandfather, a great dobro player, and mother, who is a talented singer and songwriter. After a few years with his family band The Three Generations, Nick co-founded Northern Departure, an energetic and very talented Northwest bluegrass band. Nick is a gifted lead and harmony vocalist, and his powerful mandolin chop and dynamics help establish the energy of the groups he performs with. He currently plays with the up and coming Seattle-based bluegrass band North Country and has enjoyed touring with them the past three years.
CHRIS LUQUETTE - Chris is one of the hardest working musicians in the Seattle music scene. You'd be hard pressed to find another 23 year-old who can so seamlessly transition from International Music to Jazz to Rock, Jazz, and Bluegrass so comfortably. He has even studied Brazilian Jazz with Seattle-based Brazil music legend, Jovino Santos Neto. Chris' musicianmanship reflects the multitude of musical influences he turns to for inspiration. His acoustic guitar playing really stands out, but this virtuoso, multi-instrumentalist is equally at home playing mandolin, drums, bass, electric guitar, banjo, and Greek bouzouki! In addition, Chris was a founding member of Seattle-based Northern Departure, and has found himself sitting in with Jerry Douglas, Emmylou Harris, Rob Ickes, The Steep Canyon Rangers, Kenny and Amanda Smith, The Boxcars, Yogi and The Yoginis and many others. Chris now plays with the Grammy-nominated bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen and has been traveling the world with them for the past three years. Chris shares his time with Alexandria, Virginia/Washington DC and his native home in Seattle, Washington.
