Johnny Rawls

Johnny Rawls brings his high-energy, can't stop dancing blues music to the Boondocks Lounge, Saturday, May 9th at 8 p.m.

Ever since Rawls headlined his first appearance at a Rhythm and Roots show in 2005, Tucson Blues/Soul fans and dance crowds have showed up in mass for his steamy performances. Rawls knows how to get a party going, it's almost impossible to stay seated at a Rawls show.

A talented blues guitarist and a prolific songwriter, Rawls has recorded at least 17 CDS or albums, with additional songs recorded on albums with multiple artists. His recent CD, "Remembering O.V.," is, a tribute to the late, great soul man O.V. Wright. It won the Living Blues Magazine Critics' Poll as Best Southern Soul Album of 2013. Wright was Rawls' friend and mentor, and Rawls was Wright's band director in the mid-1970s.

Rawls continues to garner Blues Music awards and nominations in the following categories- Soul Album of the year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and for his songwriting, Song of the Year.
