Beginning Beekeeping Class
Beginning Beekeeping Course. Learn sustainable beekeeping with an emphasis on chemical-free practices from the experts over three consecutive Saturday mornings. An optional fourth Saturday open hive demonstration in the bee yard and graduation luncheon is included.
Topics include: Beekeeping Equipment & Protective Gear, Honey Bee Biology, the Colony & Getting Started, Honey Bee Pests & Diseases - Their Prevention and Control, Seasonal Hive Management and Honey Production and Other Hive Products
Tuition includes MAAREC Publication Beekeeping Basics, refreshments each day and a five-month Guild membership from February 1, 2011 to June 30, 2011. Optional $10 extra includes the latest edition of the Beekeeping for Dummies book, a $19.99 value.
This course fulfills the educational requirement of six (6) hours of classroom instruction in introductory beekeeping training for the qualified level of the Virginia Master Beekeeper Program.
