There's an idea stuck in your head. Maybe it's been there for a day, or maybe years. A little voice keeps saying "you gotta do this". Or maybe you don't have the idea, but feel like you want to collaborate on something meaningful. How do you do it?
Yes, childcare is available on the day of the event for a fee.
The Fernwood Community Centre is hosting the first-ever "1deas2Action", a 12-hour intensive workshop bringing together everyone who wants to make good stuff happen here and beyond. Entrepreneurs, artists, community organizers and more will come together to share their ideas, form teams and get down to work taking a concept as far as they can in one day.
Activities will include creating a Business Model Canvas that's relevant to both for-profit and non-profit projects. Case studies and hands-on exercises will help each team build and refine their idea into an action plan. Fireside chats with local thought leaders will offer inspiration and knowledge. Mentors with varied experience will also be onhand to ask questions and provide advice that's specific to each team's project.
Similar to the popular and successful "startup weekends" in the tech industry, Idea to Action is a fast and effective way for people with a mix of skillsets to find their tribe and hit the ground running. Some ideas may end when the workshop's over. But others will take off with a team and action plan formed in a single productive day.
The "someday" for your amazing new endeavor could be "never". Or it can be today. Your choice.
