Martha Gallagher
"Martha Gallagher is Janis Joplin-Joan Baez-Jean Redpath all rolled into one! She's a treasure; her music lifts up the spirit and reminds us why we're here." - Todd Moe, North Country Public Radio
Martha Gallagher, known far and wide as The Adirondack Harper, has never been content to imitate tradition with her ancient instrument. Her vision of the Celtic harp is expansive; acknowledging and honoring it's rich history, while at the same time exploring it's ability to speak the modern languages of blues, jazz, and world music. A recognized innovator on both the acoustic and the electric harps, her sense of adventure has led her to exploring MIDI harp technology; combining the world of the harp player with that of the digital musician, creating new soundscape possibilities for the harp. Her brand new CD is Ebb & Flow, which features long-time collaborators Brian Mellick (percussion), Sue Grimm (flute), Tom Wadsworth (guitar), and Frank Orsini (viola).
