ADY . ABBOT -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "NamaSegway"
The first rider panics halfway up a hill, spinning out and taking the next in the line down with her. Some uncle tries to be a hero by leaping off his machine and falling on his ass, sending his Segway wandering off, sans rider, into some nearby bushes. As she watches the horror unfold, Ady ponders the ensuing accident report and thinks, "Where do I begin?"
PHIL . SURKIS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Mister Sister Baby Daddy Uncle Dog"
Phil's sister, Alisa, wants something from him, only she doesn't know how to ask for it. And even if she did, he wouldn't know how to go about it. What she wants is a miracle, but Phil doesn't believe in miracles...until he discovers the miracle of overnight shipping.
JULIE . GIESEKE -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Love Rules" Julie only ever wanted to swim in the Love Pool. Actually she wanted to dive head first into that pool and never get out, but first she must contend with the Love Pool Attendant and learn all the rules about getting in and staying in love.
SAHIL . FAROOQI -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A Brown Monkey Goes to McDonald's"
Sahil makes the best Chicken Tikka Masala in upstate New York. He has said "thank you come again" to customers. He rode on camels and elephants through the jungles of India. Americans keep asking him these questions and the answers keep getting spicier. In Ithaca High School, Sahil is battling dual identities, Indian or American. How much to gain and what to loose? He wants to be popular, he wants to have lots of friends, lots of White friends but 9/11 happens and he fears that he doesn't belong in America anymore. Sahil is paranoid about the backlash. He doesn't understand why is he being lumped in with the terrorists, he eats pork (sometimes). Sahil has to re-dream his American dream in this new America.
