Enjoy the whole season from this renowned chamber ensemble:
**December: SILENT NIGHT, NOISY NIGHT!** Midnight stillness, bells, bongos! Ever since the manger, this season brings sounds and silence. Fly from 17th-c Spain through England, Latvia, Romania, Sweden and Haiti to 21st-c No. America in joyous celebration and quiet contemplation of the holiday. The program includes works by Early Music composers by Byrd and Nanino; more contemporary works by Desamours, Jansons, Joubert, Karai, Lemacher, Nordqvist, Paynter, Pilkington, Pinkham, Sametz, Vlad, and Willan. Featuring three world premieres from Composer-In-Residence Richard Felciano, Australian Composer-Not-In-Residence Stephen Leek, and local composer Tina Harrington. Dates are Dec 4, 5, 11, and 12 at Peninsula, San Francisco, Marin, and East Bay venues.
**May: WITH STRINGS ATTACHED: SFCA connects with The Alexander String Quartet ** The Choral Artists collaborate with the renowned Alexander String Quartet in new compositions for chamber choir and string quartet. Featuring are major new commissioned works by Paul Seiko Chihara, Michael Gandolfi, and Veronika Krausas; Brahms "Quartets" Opus 92 in a new arrangement for choir and quartet; Beethoven's "Elegischer Gesang"; and additional new works to be announced.
This stunning program will be captured in a recording by Grammy-winning producer Judith Sherman but nothing beats being there for the world premiere performances by these two wonderful chamber ensembles.
