An Evening with Joanne Juskus
"File under heavenly voices..." says Albert Garzon, former producer for 10,000 Maniacs, of Juskus. Named a "Top 10 Favorite" by The Washington Post, Joanne has been a staple of the Baltimore/Washington music scene since her debut album was released to critical acclaim in 2001. Chosen as one of six "Best Unsigned Bands" by Amtrak's Arrive Magazine (March/April 2006), Joanne has been compared to luminary songstresses Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. Joanne has appeared at such notable venues as Merriweather Post Pavilion, NYC's Knitting Factory, and Bitter End, Bethlehem Musikfest and the Columbia Festival of the Arts. Michael Jaworek of the famed Birchmere Theater, calls Joanne's latest CD, see your face, "Just brilliant!" And Sally Thorner, anchorwoman for Baltimore's WJZ-TV Eyewitness News declares, "To hear Joanne's music is to become an instant fan. She is just hypnotic."
Joanne is also the founder/producer of the Sound Foundation Benefit Concert Series at the Patterson Theater, and performs as the lead singer in popular Baltimore modern world music band, Telesma.
Joanne, a Columbia resident, explores and bridges the different worlds of folk and electronic music, with lyrical original songs and captivating electronic/vocal improvisations with electronic musician/guitarist Adrian Bond.
