Event
World as Cafe Conversation March 29, 2007
The power of ideas, innovation and action to make the world a better place often comes from simple, meaningful conversation.
During the week of March 25-31, 2007, small groups all around the world will engage in conversation around thought- and heart-provoking questions.
I am hosting a small group conversation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists, Fireside Room, 1606 Bonita Avenue near Cedar St., Berkeley, CA 94709.
You and your network are invited to attend. I will be hosting the discussion using the Conversation Cafe format, which means we will use a simple method to allow everyone involved to meaningfully contribute.
Topics to be discussed:
What is the highest leverage action you or anyone could take towards a just, peaceful, and sustainable world by 2025?
What do you think we can do now to make life better here?
How can each of us walk our talk better?
As a group, we will work with these agreements during the conversation:
Open-mindedness: listen to and respect all points of view
Acceptance: suspend judgment as best you can
Curiosity: seek to understand rather than persuade
Discovery: question old assumptions, look for new insights
Sincerity: speak for yourself about what has personal heart and meaning
Brevity: go for honesty and depth but don't go on and on
Each person will have an opportunity to make a commitment to action as a result of participating in the Conversation.
Before the end of the evening, we'll capture all the ideas. They will be shared with the global World as Cafe community after March 31.
