Winter 2010 Occidental Choir Concerts
What do you think of when you think of the holidays? Lights glowing in your neighbors' windows on cold winter nights, perhaps -- the bright, colored lights of a Christmas tree, or the soft radiance of Chanukah candles. You might think of the sound of bells -- sleigh bells, or church bells, or the hand bells rung by the red-cheeked souls attending the Salvation Army collection buckets. Or you may recall the warm, familiar smells of roast turkey and pumpkin pie, gingerbread and mulled cider. Maybe you think of the snows of your childhoods, or the conflagration of a solstice bonfire, consuming the dead wood of the year gone by, and lighting a path to the stars.
But wherever your thoughts turn when you think of the holiday season, chances are, there is music somewhere in the background. The Occidental Community Choir has been celebrating and expanding the musical traditions of the holiday season for Sonoma County denizens for thirty-two years. We are excited to offer once again a richly varied program of choral music for our winter 2010 concert series. With new, OCC-original songs debuting alongside extraordinary music from the choral repertoire of the 1500s to the 21st century, we believe we've put together one of our most enjoyable winter concerts yet. You will laugh, you will cry, you will eat mincemeat pie. Well, we're not sure about the mincemeat pie part. But you never know -- this is the OCC we're talking about, after all.
