Beethoven Project: "Razumovsky"
To complement The Musical Offering's exploration of Beethoven's chamber works, Musical Offering faculty and guest artists perform Beethoven's String Quartet No. 8 in E Minor. This dramatic and daring quartet is one of the "Razumovsky" quartets from Beethoven's prolific middle period. Like his other middle period quartets, it is deeply satisfying for performers, and continues to captivate listeners.
The program opens with music featuring the flute: Haydn's delightful London Trio No. 1 for flute, violin and cello, and a lyrical piece by Chicago-based composer Patricia Morehead called The Edible Flute. Flutist Caroline Pittman will be joined by special guest pianist Philip Morehead.
Artists: Louisa Blood, violin; Rebekah Cope, viola; Ben Webster, viola; Sarah Beske, cello; Caroline Pittman, flute; Philip Moorehead, piano
