Look, Look Again / Dance,Video, Visual Art Installation
After producing the East End Open Studio last July with fourteen visual artists, photographers, musicians and dancers from Ipswich's East End Historic District, choreographer, Janet Taisey Craft began playing with the ideas of "Dance as Visual Art".
Working together with co-creator/dancers Jenny Carlson, Danielle DiVito, and Tabitha Liversidge, they transform the studio into a gallery-like space where dancers work with their own mirror image, suspend from large canvas slings high above the audience, dance in unexpected spaces, draw inspiration from visual artists Alexander Calder and Nicholas Nixon's "Brown Sisters" photos, and create their own visual art by leaving gesture marks on paper.
Ipswich Moving Company along with East End Artists presents Look, Look Again / Dance, Video, Visual Art Installation for six performances. A gallery of related photography and drawings will be on exhibit from Wednesday, April 22 through Saturday, April 25th. Collaborating Artists include: Kurt Ankeny, artist, Niklas Kelliher, videographer, David Stone, Kezia Fitzgerald, Nick Repoli, photographers, Sandra Galley, lighting designer, and Ivette Shelbourne, costume designer.
