Find someone who is on our facebook page and make a donation in their name here, or make a general donation to the event. Not sure? Here's why this event is important In the continuing effort to protect the world's highly endangered rhinos and the species with whom they share their habitats, zoo keepers across the nation sponsor an annual "Bowling for Rhinos" fundraiser. 100% of all proceeds go directly to support Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) in Kenya; and to Ujung Kulon, Bukit Barisan Selatan, and Way Kambas National Parks in Indonesia through the International Rhino Foundation. LWC is a 65,000 acre sanctuary which protects white and black rhinos as well as everything from orchids to elephants residing within the sanctuary. Ujung Kulon National Park is home to the last 47 Javan rhinos in the entire world!! Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park is a 3500 square kilometer lush, lowland tropical rainforest where the Sumatran rhino, tigers, and Malayan sun bear live. Proceeds from Bowling for Rhinos also support Action for Cheetahs. Poaching is on the rise, and habitat degradation continues, threatening vulnerable rhino populations. The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) expresses its concern for the plight of the rhino by taking action. Bowling for Rhinos raises $200,000 to $300,000 annually to help in this work, and over $5 million has been raised since its inception in 1990. Our goal remains to raise enough money to save these valuable ecosystems for future generations.
