DBIA Presentation: Innovation and Creativity How to make your RFP Unique!
AIAOC Lunch Program
Putting together an RFQ/RFP can be a daunting task for a design-build team. The selected contractor/architect must organize and develop a team in a short period of time. Not only must they coalesce and respond to the RFQ but they must separate themselves from the competition to have a chance at winning the award though the RFP process. How can your team gain an advantage over the other teams? How do you become a functioning and successful team? How do you make your RFP unique? How do you make the process an exciting and fun adventure not a problem to solve? This presentation will provide attendees the insight, tools and concepts for the Design Manager and team leaders who want to gain an advantage in the competitive atmosphere of the RFP process. Discussion points will include concepts regarding team formation, team character and leadership. Many RFP's include a technical submittal which grades creativity and innovation. Specific emphasis will be given on how to gain a high score in this area, and how to think out of the box utilizing the strengths, talents and experiences of your team members. The review of scope or prescriptive documents will be discussed and how to find not just typical means and methods but unique and innovative ways to make your RFP stand out. How to think like a master builder not just like an architect or contractor will also be discussed.
