Two exciting bands that first shared a bill here at the Lizard last summer and to everyone's delight, with great success. They collectively show us where folk, pop, rock and funk cross paths
Imagine the sounds of folk, rock, and blues, performed over the sweat and chatter of a Mediterranean marketplace. You might start to get a picture of what CHARLIE CHRISTOS' latest album "Widow's Gun" sounds like. The lyrics, a collection of short stories and abstract musings, sit somewhere between a dream, and a conversation at the general store. Performing as a trio, Charlie Christos, with Jim Lavin, and Chris Cleveland, bring a range of outside elements to their folk style of songwriting including Dub, tribal, progressive, and breakbeats.
Practically the same could all be said of Samantha Farrell and her band, or, as Samantha describes herself, "Jazzy Folk Rock Pop with a twirl.
