Andrew Lippa Professional Workshop with Animus Theatre Company
Animus Theatre Company is proud to present Andrew Lippa as the next instructor in their Professional Workshop program.  Participants will work 1-on-1 with Mr. Lippa on one of his songs of their choosing.

The Workshop will be held Friday, March 20, from 11:45AM-2PM at the Ripley Grier Studios (520 8th Avenue, New York, New York 10018;16th Floor) in Studio 16-J.  See below for registration details.

Participants are asked to choose a 32-BAR AUDITION CUT from an Andrew Lippa song, which they will work 1-on-1 with him for 15 minutes (keep in mind that we will adhere strictly to this time frame, so choose your material accordingly).  Only a few Participant Slots are available, so act fast!  An accompanist will be provided, please bring clearly marked and well-prepared sheet music.  The fee for Participants will be $125.00.

Auditors are also welcome at this workshop, where they will be able to observe the individual work Mr. Lippa does with the Participants.  Auditors are not asked to prepare any music.  The fee for Auditors is only $45!

Please plan to arrive promptly at 11:45AM as the Workshop will begin at 12PM SHARP!  Individuals should neither enter nor leave the space while a Participant is working, and should wait for a break to join.  Participant and Auditor slots are Non-Refundable.  Payment may be made via Credit Card or PayPal here on Brown Paper Tickets.  Please be respectful when Participants are working, and no food or drink (with the exception of water) is allowed in the Studio.

ANDREW LIPPA is best known as a celebrated and award-winning Broadway composer and lyricist. He recently made his New York stage debut in a sold out performance of "I Am Harvey Milk" at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall alongside Kristin Chenoweth, the Orchestra of St Luke's and the 120-member All Star Broadway Chorus.  Life of the Party, an evening celebrating 20 years of his words and music, premiered at London's award-winning Menier Chocolate Factory last summer.  He also wrote the Drama Desk-nominated music and lyrics for the Broadway musical "Big Fish", the Tony-nominated music and lyrics for the Broadway musical "The Addams Family" as well as the music for the Broadway production of Aaron Sorkin's play "The Farnsworth Invention".  Other musicals include the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award-winning musical "The Wild Party" (book/music/lyrics - at Encores! in NYC with Sutton Foster this July);  "A Little Princess" (music);  "john & jen" (music/book revival at the Keen Company this season in NYC); "Asphalt Beach" (music and lyrics); and "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" (additional music/lyrics and arrangements).  He is currently working on a musical adaptation of Jules Feiffer's book "The Man In The Ceiling" with Mr. Feiffer.

His songs have been recorded by such esteemed singers and actors as Kristin Chenoweth, Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Norbert Leo Butz, Julia Murney and Peter Cincotti.  Mr. Lippa was music director and conductor for Kristin Chenoweth's sold-out shows at the Metropolitan Opera House, Carnegie Hall and at the Donmar Warehouse in London as well as the San Francisco, Chicago, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras. He appeared as an actor in the play "Two Pianos, Four Hands" (NYC), as a featured performer at The Adelaide Cabaret Convention in Australia, at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and many other venues throughout New York City.  Accolades include a Tony and Grammy nomination, the Gilman/Gonzalez-Falla Theater Foundation Award, ASCAP's Richard Rodgers/New Horizons Award, The Drama Desk and The Outer Critics Circle Award.  Andrew Lippa serves on the board of The Dramatists Guild Fund and is a graduate of The University of Michigan.
