H2O
Aluminous present "H2O" by Jane Martin, directed by Michael French
After arriving to the City of Angels, a drifter gets the break of a lifetime and catapults to movie stardom. Banking on his fame (and name), he is soon selected to appear on Broadway in Hamlet. Given full casting approval, he embarks to New York City to seek out his Ophelia and encounters his muse and his match in the form if a evangelical Christian actress set on getting the part, and saving what's left of his soul.
Originally produced at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in 2013, H2O transports audiences into the reclusive, madcap world of Jane Martin's drama/comedy/love story about self-destruction, notoriety, and the dark journey to purity and salvation.
"By turns powerful, tragic, romantic, amoral, unselfconscious and self-obsessed, this complex one-act drama and its two passionate characters tumble down through the circles of a Dantesque hell without ever quite grasping the reasons why... This play is so moving and effective, it's completely and entirely unforgettable." - Washington Times
"It will leave you dealing not only with your feelings about the characters, but also reconsidering art, life, and The Meaning of It All." - Broadwayworld.com
"H2O is a masterpiece. It embodies America and its Culture War in the 21st century. Who will live and who will die? And can one survive without the other?" - MD Theatre Guide
Featuring Paul Jennings as Jake, Jeunee Simon as Deborah and six unnamed actors as life itself. Set design by Erik La Due, Lighting design by Christian Mehji, and Costume design by Mo Stone.
