gnarwhallaby: The Wild Beasts
People Inside Electronics presents gnarwhallaby performing the striking music of Kotoński, Schankler, Dobrowski, Erb, and Subotnick.
gnarwhallaby's unique and strangely effective instrumentation was born out of the Polish avant-garde of the late-1960's and early-1970's when Zygmunt Krauze initiated and led the Warsztat Muzyczny [Musical Workshop] in commissioning many of the most active and progressive composers of Poland and abroad. The most famous of these include Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Morton Feldman, and Edison Denisov. But some lesser known contributors to the Warsztat Muzyczny's repertoire were perhaps more well-known at the time for their cutting-edge work in early electronic music. This program is an homage to that first generation's explorations and implementations of electronics as well as their contributions to our quartet's singular repertoire and symbolic heritage.
