A poetry slam is a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience. The content and styles are as diverse as the people of our great city.
Top finishers in the grand slam will represent The Pigeon and Philadelphia at the National Poetry Slam!
Come perform, watch or judge.
Poets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. All poets who put their name in the hat pay half price. At 9:00 poets names will be picked out of the hat.

The Pigeon* is excited to announce this month's feature and workshop** leader:
Jared Singer is an Audio Engineer and poet who lives in Brooklyn NY. He has represented NY 8 times at the national slam level including two final stage appearances at the National Poetry Slam and one at IWPS.
He is a 5 time New York City Grand Slam Champion and his work has appeared in The Legendary, Union Square Lit Mag, Poets of the Blue Ridge and more. He writes frequently about his favorite things in the world- science, comic books, and love. Jared Singer believes in the healing power of kittens, whiskey, and listing things in groups of three.
