THE SECRET TO A HAPPY ENDING: A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS
Filmmaker Barr Weissman's The Secret To A Happy Ending spends three years tracking the Drive-By Truckers in the wake of their release of the contemporary classic album Southern Rock Opera. The film chronicles the band's rise from struggling indie rock road warriors driving their own van, to working musicians making a living from the work they can not help but do, all while starting -- and ending -- families, and providing much needed catharsis to fans who drive through the night for the chance to catch them live.
A love letter to rock and roll, The Secret to a Happy Ending starts where our behind-the-music culture leaves off. Using exclusive live concert footage, personal interviews with the band, and looks at the small Alabama towns that brought them together, the film examines the bonds that create a band closer than family, and where those bonds fray, all while understanding, sometimes, we just need for someone to remind us, "Let There Be Rock."
