Beauty & the Beast: An Adaptation
May 15 and 16 marks the DanceLife Center's 5th performance, and what better way to celebrate but our own adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast!"
Based on a traditional fairy tale written by French novelist Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont published in 1756, "Beauty & the Beast" tells the story of the relationship between the Beast, a prince who is magically transformed into a monster as punishment for his arrogance, and Belle, a young woman who he imprisons in his castle. To become a prince again, the Beast must love Belle and win her love in return, or he will remain a Beast forever.
The DanceLife Center's adaptation of "Beauty & the Beast" will be a musical theatre extravaganza, with some of our favorite pieces from the beloved 1991 Disney film version, and will feature dancers from ages 6 through adults in various genres, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, musical theatre and hip hop.
Three shows are available: May 15, 7pm; May 16, 2pm and May 16, 7pm. All performances will take place at The Theatre, Doudna Fine Arts Center on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
