Lark Powers, pianist, will return to the Music Festival Winter Series on March 15. An active teacher, Dr. Powers was on the faculty of the Preparatory Division of the Peabody Institute as well as the University of Colorado's Continuing Education program. In fall 2013, she was appointed to the faculty of East Central University as assistant professor of piano and music theory, and in addition has been busy working as an adjudicator in regional competitions and as a presenter and lecturer in conferences, including the recent International Festival of Spanish Keyboard Music held in Mojacar, Spain. She holds three Master's degrees -- in piano, harpsichord and theory pedagogy-- and a graduate performance diploma in piano, all from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She was awarded her doctorate from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

This summer, Lark Powers performed duo piano recitals in Spain, featuring the music of Catalan composers working and living in North America. Other past performances include working under the direction of Leon Fleisher in concerts at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, and at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
