Nutbuster!! The Ballet 12/22
"The original fairytale by E.T.A. Hoffman was violent and mysterious, but the traditional ballet is confectionary. Let's get back to the truth. For the second year in a row, John Munger, Artistic Director of Third Rabbit Dance, presents his one-man solo version of The Nutcracker as a psychotic day-fantasy in the mind of Drosselmeyer, supposedly Clara's kindly and magical uncle. Munger has danced professionally in over 200 performances of the traditional "Nutcracker" spanning 39 years and over half a dozen roles. But this is something different. This remount of last year's hit is refined, improved, but true to the original. You'll laugh, you'll gasp, and you'll be glad you saw something different in December, for a change.
