This concert is part of the broader 4th annual North American Days of Sevdah organized by Sevdah North America. It is one of many concerts being held in cities throughout North America. These annual events have touched thousands through live performances which are later broadcast via satellite throughout Europe and North America. There are currently about 5,000 Bosnians living in the greater Seattle area out of 200,000 in the United States. SNA recognizes sevdah provides an invaluable bridge for the children of Bosnian immigrants and refugees who were born in North America, and between cultures. The songs of sevdah take people back to a time before their lives were shattered by war, trauma and displacement, and provides a bottomless well of healing.
