Orphans, a play by Lyle Kessler
Set in the not too distant past in North Philadelphia, when crime rates were rising, and the divide between the elite class and the poor was growing. Orphans is the unassuming story of two brothers, one a petty pickpocket and the other a lost dreamer, abandoned to the world around them. With a chance kidnapping, they befriend a mysterious businessman whose arrival defines a brother's love and changes the landscape of theirs and his lives.
The Los Angeles New Court Theatre is excited to be bringing Lyle Kessler's modern classic alive after a successful Broadway run that was nominated for a 2013 Tony Award for "Best Revival of a Play."
"Orphans is wickedly funny one minute and powerfully emotional the next. Kessler uses humor as a subversive force, making the shift into despair a visceral gut punch." The Hollywood Reporter.
"Orphans" is presented by Special Arrangement with Samuel French, INC.
