The Legend of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet
Chicago…Chemically Imbalanced Comedy is proud to present to the world premier of the legend of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piete by Marz Timms and Angie McMahon, directed by Josie Dykas.
Sinterklaas, also known as St. Nicholas is the Dutch version of our American santa clause. His "elf" is names Zwarte Piet. This holiday tail spins the story of the meeting of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, as they travel to children's homes, leaving fruit in the shoes of good kids, and beating and kidnapping the bad.
The youth of the Netherlands are out of control. The Patron Saint of Children has decided to enlist Zwarte Piet, a Moor, who is accused of a crime he didn't commit. The two take on the town gang, by kidnapping the gang leader, who is a local child star and take him to Spain for rehabilitation.
This re-mastering of a traditional Dutch holiday tale told through the eyes of American writers will surely split your sides.
