An Evening with Chris Pureka and special guest MaryLeigh Roohan
Over the course of her fifteen year career, Chris Pureka has released all of her albums on her own label, Sad Rabbit Records, while sharing the stage with the likes of The Lumineers, The Cowboy Junkies, Gregory Alan Isakov, Dar Williams, Martin Sexton, Ani DiFranco and many more.
Throughout that time, Chris has been the recipient of numerous awards, had songs featured in film and television, recorded two Daytrotter Sessions, been a featured performer at TedxKC and SXSW, Bumbershoot, and performed in countless music halls across the U.S. and Europe.
In 2010 she employed long-time friend and indie favorite Merrill Garbus (of tUnE-yArDs fame) to co-produce How I Learned to See In the Dark. The resulting album garnered critical acclaim, sold over 10,000 copies (in addition to a 2015 vinyl reissue) and led to a partnership with European label Haldern Pop.
2015 sees Chris throwing open the doors and rearranging the furniture to reinvent the space that she occupies: she has a new album in the works that promises to stay true to her roots while introducing new ideas and sounds not heard on her previous releases. Both U.S. and European tours are in the plans for the second half of the year.
