Food & Folklore: VOODOO
~Voodoo comes from the Fon people of the present day Republic of Benin on the west coast of Africa. The word "voodoo" in their language simply means "spirits." It is a spiritual practice that is divided into three echelons; God, spirits or Voodoo, and deceased ancestors. Voodoo, in and of itself, has no devil or evil spirits. In some versions, however, a Voodoo spirit may be induced to do something evil.~
Eatonville Restaurants' monthly dinner series, Food & Folklore, celebrates VOODOO this month with special guest speaker Osunyoyin Alake, an African American anthro-photo-journalist, initiated priestess of the Yoruba River Goddess Osun (in Osogbo, Nigeria) and sidereal astrologer.
