Bonhoeffer's Cost
Who was Bonhoeffer? Some know Dietrich Bonhoeffer for his innovative theological ideas, his prolific writing career, or his support for the Jewish community in Germany during World War II. But what motivated Dietrich Bonhoeffer to speak out against one of the most infamous dictators of all time? Bonhoeffer's Cost examines the story of German pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer by illustrating his time in Tegel Prison as a political convict. The play provides a glimpse into the experiences, doubts, relationships, and principles that inspired Bonhoeffer's philosophies as a theologian, and fueled his determination as a member of the German resistance to the Nazis. Though Bonhoeffer based his actions on his own convictions and personal sense of ethics, his faith and resolve continue to have a powerful impact today.
