APPLEBLIM (Bristol, UK) at the Baltic Room
Decibel and Car Crash Set are proud to present, the Seattle debut of UK dub innovator...

Considering it wasn't until 2005 when his name first appeared on record, Appleblim's CV is pretty damn staggering. Founding the sacred Skull Disco imprint alongside Shackelton that year (arguably the most cult-followed electronic label of the last decade), the Bristol-based producer played a defining role in pushing the boundaries of a still uncertain dubstep scene and has gone on to spearhead a new form of indefinable mutant future music through his solo label project Apple Pips.

Blurring boundaries between house, techno, two-step, funky and electronica, Apple Pips has become a byword for sonic adventurism and a breeding ground for unsung outside-the-box talent (read Al Tourettes, Greena and Brackles). Equally, though, the label has released EPs from Berlin techno stalwart T++ and the esteemed Instra:mental duo. With live techno relics Underworld recently asking Appleblim to collaborate on their 'Barking' LP (and as tour DJ), it seems everyone wants to lock creative horns with the easy-going Bristolian.

Aside from his groundbreaking work on Skull Disco and Apple Pips, Appleblim has collaborated with and remixed a wide array of artists including, Brian Eno, Carl Craig, Bonobo, Tikiman, Beat Pharmacy and Planetary Assault Systems to name a few.

As a DJ, Appleblim possesses an uncanny ability to blend the experimental with the instinctively funky. Classic blends of bass weight and rhythm get pushed through new, futuristic forms as evident on his widely praised podcasts and DJ mixes for Fabric, Tempa, Radio 1, Resident Advisor, Rinse, RBMA Radio and XLR8R.  You can download the latest Appleblim mix for XLR8R at: http://www.xlr8r.com/news/2010/10/listen-new-mix-appleblim

:: NORDIC SOUL ::
Decibel

Nordic Soul has deeply impacted the electronic community not only through his work for the annual Decibel Festival but also by slaying Seattle dance floors year-round. His emotionally charged sets are infused with live instrumentation and ripe with the mélange of organic and synthesized tones, all riding on top of heavy bass lines. The resulting music is a living, hybrid creature with a rich sense of soul that delights in its own existence. A lover of many musical styles, Nordic Soul's interest and roots in hip hop, IDM, industrial, and dub contribute to his current musical palette that straight drips techno into the mouths of the waiting audience, thirsty for the unrelenting madness and unabated aural penetration that is electronic music. Since Nordic Soul's inception in 2003 he's shared the stage with a diverse cross section of international talent, including Modeselektor, Moby, Bassnectar, Trentemoller, Simian Mobile Disco, Green Velvet, Radio Slave, Derrick May, Boys Noize, Moderat, Gui Boratto, Monolake, Thomas Fehlmann, Apparat, Kraak & Smaak, Matthew Dear, John Tejada, Funkstroung, Cobblestone Jazz, Nosaj Thing, Luomo, Miles Dyson, Tipper and Four Tet to name a few.
