Walk Like A Man - The Play
Saying goes that things are bigger and better in Texas. Award-winning author Laurinda D. Brown, puts those words to the test when she brings her history-making, Off-Broadway production Walk Like A Man – The Play to The Big "D.
Told in two acts and boasting the slogan, "it's about life...not lifestyles," a culturally-diverse cast incorporates dramatic and comedic performances to educate through entertainment as it portrays labels, issues, and stereotypes universal to most relationships such as runaway youth, love and religious controversies, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, safe-sex messages, and affairs in the workplace.
Responses to the play have been rave. "This production is so powerful that the quiet is loud." "You'll laugh; you'll cry; you'll leave enlightened. Laurinda gets you." "The actors are professional, realistic, and just plain wonderful!"
Adapted from Walk Like A Man, Brown's 2006 Lambda Literary Award winning book of short stories, Walk Like A Man - The Play has been heralded as a "must see" by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and has garnered the support of New York Times best-selling author, Zane, the National Black Justice Coalition, as well as the Washington, DC Mayor's Office for LGBT Affairs.
