Sage Hill School will open its campus to the community for a day of food and festivity at the 14th Annual Multicultural Fair on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Between 11 am and 4 pm, watch the Newport Coast hillside transform into a global village as an expected 1,000+ visitors enjoy authentic international food booths, lively cultural entertainment, an ethnic bazaar, a student-led philanthropy marketplace, and hands-on activities for all ages.
Visitors can stroll along the plaza of international food booths, where freshly prepared tastings from China, India, Japan, Korea, Persia, and Vietnam will tempt fair-goers alongside delicacies from England, France, and Mexico. Savor Italian specialties from the restaurant kitchen of Pelican Hill, and sample our very own California cuisine courtesy of Sapphire Laguna. Try something new from El Salvador, or enjoy the continental flavors of Germany and Poland before tasting a treat from Asia or West Africa in the "Desserts Around the World" booth.
A visit to the Multicultural Fair is like traveling the world without leaving Orange County. The sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of faraway lands will delight the senses. This global tour features continuous entertainment with the exciting rhythms of international music and dance. Take in the fascinating traditions and fashions from across the globe as well as America's own culture and heritage. Student and faculty performances include:
- Dancers and music from various cultures, as well as the Sage Hill Dance Ensemble.
- Culturally authentic instrumental arrangements by Korean Nanta drummers.
- Vocalists ranging from groups such as our Encore Choir to amazing solo artists singing everything from pop to opera.
In the World's Playground, the young and the old will be welcomed by our very own high school students and parents. You will smell the aroma of freshly baked bread, spread with rich homemade butter, and can learn the skill of bread baking and butter churning yourself. Try your hand at woodworking, and felting Easter eggs. Sit back and get a decorative henna painting, and don't forget to pose for a souvenir photo with friends. Across the square, our vibrant Ethnic Bazaar will beckon with bargain-priced treasures from the day's journey.
Admission to the fair is $5. Children five and under are admitted free. Food tickets are $1 each, with all servings priced between 1 and 3 tickets each. You can save time on Saturday by purchasing tickets here in advance, and picking up your order at the Will Call table.
Overflow parking is available at Mariners Church. Look for signs leading to lots off Turtle Ridge and then take the free shuttle bus over to the Sage Hill School campus.
