"Live at the Fries" -- Forever Fab
Arts Equity presents an all audience performance of FOREVER FAB: A Beatles Song Cycle on January 29th "Live at the Fries".
FOREVER FAB was conceived as a song cycle by Arts Equity founder Llewellyn J. Rhoe during the first season of Arts Equity's run at it's Main Street Theatre location in downtown Vancouver and is finally coming to fruition almost six years later. It is inspired by events that transpired on August 22, 1965 in Portland, Oregon at the Memorial Coliseum. Before a total of 20,ooo fans, four young men from Liverpool performed two shows. Tickets for the shows were $4, $5, and $6. "Pink Tickets" in Memorial Coliseums upper level were actually free. The August 22 concert featured 12 songs: Twist and Shout, She's a Woman, I Feel Fine, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Ticket to Ride, Everybody's Trying to be My Baby, Can't Buy Me Love, Baby's in Black, Act Naturally, A Hard Day's Night, Help and I'm Down. The concert was attended by Arts Equity's co-founder Helene M. Rasanen who many of you know from the box office at The Main Street Theatre. She says the event was one of the pivotal moments in her life as it was for many of us who grew up listening to The Fab Four poised to discover what new musical revelation each new album brought us.
FOREVER FAB as a song cycle has five sections built around the boomers who lived the music and the kids who rediscovered record collections either by playing their parents vinyl collection or discovered it as it came out on CD's.
The five sections of FOREVER FAB looks back from my own (Midlife) musical fascination with the Beatles, moves on to include (Romance) and (Kids). A look back at (Women) and concludes with a (Finale).
The January 29th concert playlist is: In My Life, Help, Hello Goodbye, We Can Work it Out, I'm Looking Through You, You Won't See Me, Oh! Darling, Everybody's Got Something to Hide...Except Me and My Monkey, Let it Be, I'm So Tired, She's Leaving Home, She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, Revolution, Golden Slumbers, Lady Madonna, Happiness is a Warm Gun, All We Need is Love, Norwegian Wood (This Bird has Flown), Something, Here Comes the Sun, The Word, Carry that Weight, The End, Good Night, Polythene Pam.
FOREVER FAB features Dusty Richards on Guitar and Keyboards, Jon Hecox on Guitar, Matt Johnson on Bass and Robert Griner on Drums.
