Biography
As a young musician, the Jordanian singer Macadi Nahhas gained acclaim for her intimate interpretations of traditional and classic pieces of Arab music at the annual music festival in Jerash, Jordan. Her early success in cultural festivals throughout the Levant and Egypt culminated in her acceptance to the National Higher Conservatory of Music in Beirut, where she honed her mellifluous singing style. Her Iraqi folklore album "Kan ya Makan", recorded in Iraq in 2004, received wide critical acclaim and numerous nominations, especially for Nahhas' command of the Iraqi dialect. Her most recent album, "Illa Salem", is dedicated to her father, who nourished her burgeoning music career. Currently in production, her upcoming album is a collaboration with a wide array of gifted Arab musicians, intent on revealing the diversity and rich cultural heritage seated in Arab music. Her original interpretations of classic tunes are owed significant credit for continued interest and passion for traditional Arab music.
