STONEWALL UPRISING

STONEWALL UPRISING / Dir. Kate David, David Heilbroner / 2010 / USA / 80 min. / Digital
Video The patrons of the New York City gay bar, the Stonewall Inn, ranged from the top of the
closeted elite to the hungriest of the street queens and they all lived in fear of the police. These were the
bad old days of raids, arrests, beatings, entrapment, and public service announcements warning people
of predatory gays. The grimy Stonewall Inn was one of the only places a man could wrap his arms
around another man, stare into his eyes, and sway to some motown blues. On June 28, 1969 everything
changed. Hear in their own words how the patrons of the Stonewall Inn fought for our sexual freedom!
Special pre-show hosted by Marlayna McBride featuring the Stonewall Youth Drag Queens and Kings
performing selections from their hit musical "Queer Side Story".
Special Stonewall Youth Benefit.
