Salt of this Sea stars the Brooklyn-raised, third generation Palestinian refugee and Tony Award winning
Slam poet Suheir Hammad, who in '07 packed the Capitol Theater on a speaking tour. In the movie she
plays Soraja, an idealistic, young naive Brooklyn born Palestinian visiting Palestine/ Israel for the first
time. Though there are elements of a lush, romantic Bonnie and Clyde story, this isn't a violent, revenge
trip of a movie. The concept of the story transforms dramatically into a vehicle with which to see a
whole new world through Soraja's eyes. This is the first feature film ever made by a female Palestinian
director. In Arabic, English and Hebrew.
