A full-on meltdown from Destroy All Movies!!!: The Complete Guide to Punks on Film, the massive new book from the Seattle-based publisher of some of the finest underground comics and writing ever put to paper: Fantagraphics! From mohawked wasteoids to teenage gutter superstars, this special twofilm extravaganza of punk angst, spite, drugs, shrieking, and wrecked futures showcases two special
examples of this underappreciated genre with rare 35mm screenings of Ladies and Gentlemen, the
Fabulous Stains and Times Square! Presented by the book's editors, phantoms of Austin's Alamo

"Every girl should be given an electric guitar on her 16th birthday." With lines like this, it's no wonder
that Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains became such an inspiration to the Riot Grrrl
movement. After her mother's death, Corinne Burns (Diane Lane) decides to blow her desolate
hometown, convincing her sister and cousin (Laura Dern) to join her. She scores them a spot opening
for the washed up Metal Corpses and the up-and-coming Clash-esque Looters (The Clash's Paul
Simonon, The Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and Paul Cook, and Ray Winstone). Quickly learning some of
the hard truths of life on the road, Corinne reinvents herself with a fierce red blouse/black stockings
wardrobe, skunk-styled hair, and a wholesale lifting of The Looters' songs, furiously declaring, "We
don't put out!" Keith Phipps of the A.V. Club says, "The film has a weird integrity, striking and holding
a chord designed to resonate with rebels-in-the-making."
