CINEMA OF TRANSGRESSION: THE FILMS OF NICK ZEDD
Multi-faceted NYC-based filmmaker, artist, and author Nick Zedd was part of a loose-knit group of
like-minded New Yorkers, including Richard Kern, Lydia Lunch, Lung Leg, and Tessa Hughes
Freeland, who in the late âÂÂ70s through the âÂÂ80s created ground-breaking experimental films using shock
value and a very black sense of humor as a trademark of their work. In 1985 Nick Zedd coined the term
âÂÂCinema of Transgressionâ to describe the output of this group of no-holds-barred artists. The Olympia
Film Festival is very proud to bring Nick Zedd to the historic Capitol Theatre to screen a healthy crosssection of his substantial and influential body of work. Zedd will be presenting two shows, each
representing different stages in his varied career.
