Resonance Women's Chorus: Sea Change
"Sea Change: Love Song for a Warming Planet" offers an exploration in sound and song of the emotional experience of living with climate change. It's an attempt to simply be with the "not knowing" that underlies all of our wonderings and fears about the Earth's future and our own.
"Sea Change" is a concert about nature, beauty, love, loss, and the experience of being here now.
"Sea Change" is also an art show related to the concert theme, with works in varied media by Resonance singers. The show will be open for viewing in the church's labyrinth for one hour before and after each performance.
A new piece by Marjan Helms titled "Opalaria" is inspired by the breathtaking imagery of starling murmurations. The concert include music by contemporary choral composers including Joan Szymko, Sally Lamb McCune, and Eleanor Daley; music by Dolly Parton and Jane Siberry; and settings of poetry by Ursula LeGuin, Sara Teasdale, Colette Inez, and W.B. Yeats.
Resonance Women's Chorus of Boulder, founded in 2002, is a 125-voice chorus singing contemporary women's choral music with an emphasis on songs of social awareness. Resonance is directed by Sue Coffee.
Artwork: "Snug Harbor," by Resonance singer Eva Darrington.
