a Lobster Tale
a Lobster Tale directed by Adam Massey Arizona Premiere Run Time: 94 minutes Cast: Colm Meany, Alberta Watson, Graham Greene
Cody Brewer has been a lobster fisherman his whole life, which is reflected in his face from the fifty two seasons it's been exposed to the harsh Atlantic Coast. A kind and gentle man, Cody works hard through the season earning little more than what he needs to provide the bare essentials for his wife Martha and fourteen-year-old son Ben. Life is hard for Cody's family as it is for the other families who live in this town but yet they all seem to hold decent values and live by rather simple means. The small collection of unique townsfolk accept and enjoy their simple lives for what they are no matter how little material things they may seem to have. As Cody spends the last few days of the Lobster season out in his small boat hoping for a good catch, he instead comes across a rather strange and mysterious Sea Moss in one of his lobster traps. It is upon this rather accidental discovery that his, as well as his family's, and all the others in the small sleepy town lives are forever changed. "a Lobster Tale" is a feel good film, about a father who struggles to provide for his family, while longing for a closer personal relationship with his son. Evoking the emotion of films like "Billy Elliot" and "Waking Ned Devine" this is a film with a magical sensibility such as the films "Cocoon" and "E.T".
